Sherwood or Norfolk? Choosing the Right Lodge Destination

We get asked this fairly often: Sherwood or Norfolk? Both are excellent, but they offer genuinely different experiences — and the right answer depends on what you're after.

Choose Sherwood if...

  • You want forest walks and ancient woodland on your doorstep
  • You're travelling with a dog (many lodges are pet-friendly)
  • You want a market town nearby — Newark has good restaurants, a castle and a lively centre
  • You're interested in history — Sherwood Forest, Southwell Minster and Newark Castle are all within easy reach
  • You're coming from the Midlands or North and want to minimise driving time

Choose Woodlakes if...

  • You want on-site fishing — the lakes are well-stocked and genuinely peaceful
  • The Norfolk coast is on your list — Holkham, Wells and Burnham Market are all accessible
  • You want a quieter, more tucked-away setting with open skies and water views
  • You're a birdwatcher — the Norfolk landscape supports a huge variety of species year-round
  • You want the Broads within reach for a day on the water

What both have in common

Hot tubs, fully equipped kitchens, private lodges with plenty of space, and a pace of life that feels genuinely different from the everyday. Whichever you choose, you'll be back.
